Fairlop Waters Country Park, Redbridge
Fairlop Waters is a Golf & Country Park in a countryside setting, located in Redbridge, Essex, managed by Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure. The Clubhouse required a first-floor extension to the function suite and a conservatory to enhance the views across the lake and surrounding area.
Benning Construction undertook this Design & Build Project in close co-operation with the London Borough of Redbridge Architects. BACTEC a specialist bomb detection company was at hand during all excavation work due to the history of the site.
Originally named Hainault Farm, the area saw service during the World War One as an R.A.F. Home Defence Flight Station. It is believed that the site was one of the first R.A.F. airfields to trial underground hangars. No such works have been located at Fairlop and none were discovered during the extensive ground works and specialist foundations required for this project.
Benning were privileged to have this prestige project recognised and therefore nominated for the LABC annual awards.
