The ECO Scheme

With the ECO scheme (Energy Company Obligation) the Government aims to reduce fuel poverty for vulnerable households in the UK by creating funding for free energy efficiency works that will help reduce fuel bills.

The scheme is available to households on low income or receiving certain benefits. See below to find out if you are entitled and to apply.

Benning Construction is a registered provider for these energy efficiency works and we are happy to assist you in your application to help you save money and enjoy a warmer, more efficient home. The specific works we undertake include:

Thermal Imaging

We use a thermal imaging camera to identify areas in your home that need improving because of heat loss due to poor insulation and moisture intrusion that can lead to damp, condensation and drafts. From here we are able to assess the efficiency works that are needed to reduce and eliminate these.

Replacement High Efficiency Boilers and Smart Heating Controls

One of the most important works included in the ECO scheme is that home owners could have their inefficient or broken boiler replaced with a modern, new, highly efficient boiler. Alongside your boiler Benning can also install smart heating controls to give exceptional control over your hot water and heating, even remotely, and therefore reducing your energy costs.

Loft Insulation

Many inefficient homes can have minimal or even no loft insulation causing substantial heat loss through the roof. Benning can insulate the average loft in just a few hours with quality 10” insulation preventing heat loss and saving your energy. Insulation works just like a thermos flask in that in Winter it prevents warm air from escaping and in the Summer it stops the sun’s heat from warming your house, so it works for you all year round.

Under Floor Insulation

Just as heat disappears through a poorly insulated loft so it can be lost through your floor. Benning can install insulation to most types of floors including suspended timber and solid concrete. One method for the very common suspended wooden floors is our insulation support netting which we apply under the floor to hold the insulation material.
